What Senior Engineers Know (and How to Pass It On)

For software engineers, the journey from junior to senior isn’t just about acquiring technical skills; it’s about developing a mindset and approach that makes you an effective contributor to your team and resilient in the face of complex challenges. There are certain principles senior engineers seem to know innately — principles that aren’t always taught directly but are cultivated through experience. Passing these along to junior engineers requires patience and thoughtful communication. For those juniors striving to level up, understanding these concepts can make a world of difference.
